Regarding Caveat's 2021-08-30 session

David Potocnik, from and for the CHT/Totalism.org hackbase

Hi Jesse & Caveat, thank you for organizing the online session(1)(2) about Malevich's 1921 reading of idleness and artistic productivity.

For me, as I've tried voicing there — every discussion from within our empire that involves topics embedded in the worlds & systems of an either former or current geopolitical foe, colony or semi-colony, "regime" or "evil empire" — has to be threaded *extremely* carefully; and more so if it that project has been annihilated as a result of, or is presently threatened by the aggression of our homeland & its military allies. We need to be careful because we are bordering on reproducing patterns of subjugation - imperialist, colonial, corporativist, and indeed racist patterns - and doing the bidding of petty propaganda.

I believe in Caveat's discussion today, we have not been enough, or not at all careful about that, and deeply problematic perspectives were expressed or hinted to in relation to USSR & People's Republic of China.

Please feel free or encouraged to share my concerns generally.

In the interest of moving forward, I wonder how Grace Ndiritu, as I understand associated with Caveat as a produser(3), would engage with this issue? As we (Grace and CHT/Totalism.org) share a residency work period at the Kunsthal Gent(4), I would be incredibly interested to meet and try addressing these important topics in a controlled setting.

Btw, Jesse & Vanessa: It's /ˌjuːɡoʊˈslɑːviə/
"Slaviti" (slAHviti), means "to praise". "YugoSLAVEia" is an interpretation that was, thankfully, defeated by the Yugoslav Partisans in the national-liberation struggle of 1941-1945.

Kind regards.
