              * How can bio-textiles empower tribes to become nomadic citizen scientists ? 

      As electronics find their way into textiles, living organisms do so as well. Biotechnology in textiles and the application of living organisms in finishing and processing is a rising field of interest. Bacterial Cellulose (BC), as an example, receives attention due to its physiochemical properties compared to plant cellulose.
      Bio-textiles is about potentials in living organisms like bacterial cellulose, bacteria, plant, flower which is an important direction for the evolution of textile. In the Workshop we will work with fresh and dried materials, in order to combine and create possible scenarios for second skins, sensors and adaptive/responsive structures.
      We will rethink the traditional Atayal textile material from growing, planting, threading and dyeing locally materials, we are looking to open a dialog between traditional and contemporary societies. Challenging taiwanese weavers and artists to develop tribal utopian realities using textiles and (bio)technologies.

      DAY 1 / FRI 6th July

          * morning: walk for plants (ramie + paper mulberry)
          
          * 4 groups rotation every 20min to follow the steps for a circular use of the whole plant/ no waste:
          * put on gloves!!!
              * 1_ harvest:
                  * cut the full ramie as close as possible to the ground 
              * 2_ leaves for chicken food (biological research = high on proteins):
                  * remove leaves by hand on top of the tarp 
                  * proceed from top to bottom in one gesture
              * 3_ fermentation:
                  * cut the leaves in half minimum 
                  * let out the stems for fibers
                  * spray carbon fertilizer/ (brown suger + sweet coen) on each leaf in buckets
                  * mix and transfer to plastic bag where it's sealed with a bit of oxygen
                  * let for about two months to fermentation
              *4_ fibers peeling:

              * pieces of woven textiles were used from different tribes instead of a shared sense of how a garment is made and it became very messy and complicated tomsortmput influences and origines
